The Black Basin

A ghost story: the murdered Liu Shichang speaks from a clay basin and begs for justice. Tan Xinpei (1847–1917) was the leading laosheng of the late Qing; these are among the very few recordings of his voice, made c. 1907–1912. Speed-corrected from a cassette copy of the original discs.
