Koto music

Music for the thirteen-string koto, shaped in the 17th century by the blind musician Yatsuhashi Kengyō and the guilds of blind professionals who followed him. It includes kumiuta (song cycles with koto), danmono (instrumental variations) and, with shamisen and shakuhachi, the chamber genre of sankyoku.
