琴曲
Music for the guqin
The repertoire of the seven-string qin, the instrument of the Chinese scholar, preserved in tablature handbooks from the Ming dynasty onward. Pieces are often programmatic, evoking landscapes, legends or poems. They are played with a wide range of harmonics, slides and vibrato on a quiet instrument meant for intimate listening.
