China / Peking opera

Li Ling's Stele: “The golden crow sets, the jade hare rises — it is dusk”

The old general Yang Jiye, surrounded and abandoned, laments at nightfall in erhuang yuanban; the play ends with his death against the stele of Li Ling. Compare Tan Xinpei's recording of the same scene in this catalogue. A mix of singing and accompaniment, recorded in Beijing on 18 April 2017 for a music-research corpus.
