Regional opera
China has more than three hundred local opera forms, each sung in its own dialect with its own melodies. Examples include Yue opera from Zhejiang, Cantonese opera from Guangdong and the many Fujian traditions. They share the conventions of Chinese theatre but differ widely in sound and temperament.
